Finishing Well Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to encouraging and equipping senior adults to live the fulfilled life God
intends. We uphold the following biblical truths:
Our Mission is based on our beliefs that as followers of Christ we are each called to service. When, where and how gifted for the Lord's purpose and glory. We are called to be his hands and feet. We believe that Christ's grace is sufficient and that he rises to meet each of us where we are at in our journey. It is not for us to judge or condemn. Jesus said to "love your neighbor as yourself and to show hospitality."
Feed My Sheep started as an 8 week small group mission at Eastlake Church's Monroe Campus. We knew there were issues of homelessness in Monroe and we simply wanted to provide a meal where everyone was welcome, to help build up our community and have fellowship with one another.
What started as an 8 week mission has been going since 2013. Over the year's volunteers have come and gone for various reasons, but the current co-leaders have been here since the start. Our group began serving breakfast from UMC on Lewis St. and then moved to the Lewis St. Park and now we are being hosted by New Hope Fellowship. We've met and made new friends along the way! Many members of the community have stopped in to see what our group was doing and decided to jump in and help. This is what makes Monroe the great community we love to live in!
Absolutely! Do I have to have to have a church affiliation or background? No! We would love to have more likeminded and generous people to help us with our mission. No church experience required. Do I hae to know how to cook? Again, No! There's plenty you can do to help - set up/take down tables/chairs, dishes/clean-up, donate food/supplies and socialize with our guests and make them welcome. Do I have to be there every Saturday? You guess it- NO! We completely understand people have lives, commitments and work. Come when you're able, start to finish the time commitment is usually no more than 2 hours. Can I bring my child(ren)? YES! Children 10 yrs and older are welcome. This is a great experience for them to thing about others, be generous/helpful and have an impact on their community.
