Bible Study Groups

Biblical Cultural Triage Bible Study

An assessment of cultural issues to determine the urgency of the Christian's obligation for treatment and the nature of biblical response needed. We will be diving into biblical truths in their cultural and historical context to further understand the nature of God and how to live out our faith in today's culture. Each week a group member will pick a topic (i.e.. Politics, Christophanies in the OT, Identity, etc.) to study and prepare for open, guided discussions at the next gathering. We are committed to creating a loving, safe, and vulnerable environment where it is OK to agree to disagree, with the outcome of becoming more Christlike and having a deeper love for each other. Starts with dinner and then moves to study and prayer after.

Lissner's Lake Cochran Bible Study

Discussion typically is guided by the text of the Sunday sermon.

In Depth Bible Studies

Bring Your Own Lunch meets Scholar in Residence! This classic brown-bag lunch gathering transforms into an engaging weekly Bible study focused on digging deeper into Scripture. Together, we explore biblical scholarship and diverse theological perspectives while learning practical tools for reading, understanding, and interpreting the text for ourselves.

Bring your lunch, bring your questions, and come ready to learn, discuss, and grow together.

Men's Bible Study

We are building a space for the men of New Hope to dig deep, pray honestly, and dismantle our egos together. This is a safe place for real conversations, learning side by side, and doing the difficult but necessary work of unlearning unhealthy patterns and assumptions.

Our gatherings are theme-based and shaped by the real questions we bring to the table. Right now, we are wrestling with the Trinity, but future discussions will explore political theology, marriage, covenant life, pneumatology, justice, and the books of Proverbs and Revelation, to name just a few topics.

Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your willingness to grow. Join a brotherhood committed to seeking truth, sharpening one another, and doing the hard work together.

Women's Bible Study

We start each gathering with soup, bread, and goodies as we spend time fellowshipping together. From there, we move into a study and discussion on the book Luke in the Land. The group typically selects a study that includes video teaching messages to guide our conversations. Throughout the week, participants work through chapters at home, and during our meetings we review and discuss what we’ve learned together. We often spend time focusing on meaningful verses and sharing insights before closing our evening in prayer.

Other Activities

Iron Sharpens Iron

Anyone can start an Iron Group. These small groups are designed to help build a strong spiritual fire within you as you grow closer to a few committed believers over a focused season of time. Because the groups are intentionally short-term, there is freedom and flexibility—you are not locked into a long-term commitment.

Here are the simple guidelines:

1.) Form a group of three people who already know each other fairly well.
2.) Commit to meeting once a week for one hour over the course of six weeks, usually in a relaxed coffee-shop style setting.
3.) Spend time eating together, praying for one another, and studying the Bible, a book, or another inspiring resource together.
4.) New members may join only if everyone in the group agrees.
5.) At the end of eight weeks, group members can choose to continue together or step away.

Iron Groups are about honesty, encouragement, accountability, and growing deeper in faith together.

5th Sunday Potluck

Every 5th Sunday, our congregation gathers for a potluck meal together. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in the church family and build new friendships. Everyone is encouraged to sit with someone they may not know well or would like to get to know better. Good food, meaningful conversations, and community are always at the center of these gatherings.

Lenten Soup and Bible Study

During the weeks leading up to Easter, we gather together for a simple soup-and-bread supper followed by a devotional time centered on the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120–134). These evenings are designed to help prepare our hearts for Easter through fellowship, reflection, and Scripture.

Each gathering includes 30 minutes of soup and conversation followed by a 30-minute devotion and discussion. It is a meaningful midweek opportunity to slow down, connect with others, and journey toward Easter together.
